9X Media Launches Punjabi Music Channel
9X Media has just launched a Punjabi music channel, Tashan. 9X Media intends to leave a mark in the regional music field. The Punjabi channel Tashan is a 24-hour contemporary Punjabi music channel that will also showcase programs on culture, food and costumes, a segment called “Bakwaas Band Kar,” in addition, of course, to its main focus on Punjabi music ranging from pop, underground and folk music genres.
The channel will air a theme song called “Tashan…Yaaran Da,” which has been recorded with popular Punjabi singers and musicians Feroz Khan, Jaspinder Narula, Wadali Brothers, Inderjeet Nikku, Nachhatar Gill, Jaidev Kumar, Sardool and Sikander.
There are already several Punjabi music channels, including PTC Chak De, Balle Balle, ETC Punjabi, MH1 and Lashkara, so Tashan will have to experiment on ways to capture their target audience.
