Universal Music India has launched folk band Bhoomi’s second devotional albumDesh Jurrey. The band released a devotional album titled Gaan Doriyay last year on Durga Puja, as well. Bhoomi’s latest album features songs in Bangla, Rajasthani, Marathi and Punjabi, exploring musical realms of traditional and folk and music from all across India.

“Till date Bhoomi had created and sung songs which are related to Bengali folk and culture”, said Surojit of Bhoomi. “Bhoomi has taken a progressive step in imbibing the various folks of India such as bhangra of Punjab, lauwni of Maharashtra, etc. through this album. The idea is to make the local Bengali community aware to the different folk cultures of India and subsequently make the music connect with the different communities of the states”.

Desh Jurey is a step towards integrating India through music”, said Devraj Sanyal, SAARC MD of Unviersal Music Group India. “What has been amazing is that this has the personal endorsement of the beloved CM of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee who launched this album in her office amidst huge fanfare. I am sure that this album will break all previous sales records”.

Bhoomi’s Gaan Doriyay received a lot of awards last year including the ABP Group’s Bangla Sangeet Purashkar for best album by a Bangla band and best song by a Bangla band.
